Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is often talked about as if it is understood completely. The trouble is there are some who are just being introduced to online marketing that have very little idea what SEO is and why it is important. The discussion surrounding SEO can sound a bit like a foreign language to them.

In order not to appear foolish they will readily agree that SEO is important, but often have no idea why. They often aren’t even sure what SEO is or does for their Internet marketing efforts.

What Is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization is a technique used to enhance your placement in search engine rankings. This is done through strategic identification of key words and phrases that you use consistently throughout your site and content.

Why Is SEO Important?

Search engines rank websites by words and phrases discovered on each individual site. If the website in question sells fishing supplies, but doesn’t actually use the term consistently it will not rank well for that term. On the other hand if the site owner stuffs those keywords into their content in unnatural places or through unethical practices this can harm rankings. If you can blend a 2-3% use of keywords or phrases with a natural flow in your content you will find it is pleasing to both search engines as well as the consumers who use your site.

Are There Long-Term Benefits?

Yes. With most advertising you need to keep making marketing purchases to enable a long-term benefit. Once one ad campaign ends you need to pay to initiate another. On the web this entails the purchase of banner ads or an ongoing commitment to various PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising programs. With SEO you simply allow you actual content to enable better rankings for those who use search engines to find products and information. The reason this is valuable is that when your work is fully indexed and your site is ranked well it is very likely that you will receive more site visitors through a free search engine than through other online advertising techniques. Most consumers use a search engine to find what they are most interested in.

You will find free online tools (by using your search engine) that will allow you to identify a keyword or phrase that may result in either higher rankings or better searches. Other tools can allow you to test your site to see how well you have infused those terms in your site.

Why Is Content Valuable To A Website?

Content will serve two valuable purposes in your marketing plan. First it appeals to the search engines for higher rankings, but more importantly it reaches out to your potential consumer. By providing knowledge-based content your site user may come to view you as a worthwhile resource for information. Simply put, the more they can find out about your product or service the more likely it becomes that they will make a purchase.

Some sites only view their online store as a marketplace of merchandise and not a place for articles. However, those who add information often see that it encourages a greater amount of time spent using the site by visitors, which translates to a more impressive conversion rate from visitor to customer.

Using SEO techniques is a low to no-cost method of advertising your site. It provides a long-term solution to keeping your site visible in an online world of millions.

Where Can You Find A Legitimate Home Business
Posted by admin in Training Articles on 11 29th, 2009| | No Comments »

There are millions of home business opportunities on the Internet today. Some are legitimate and some are not! So where do you find the legitimate ones?

1. You can always start with your favorite search engine. For most people that means doing a Google search for the keyword phrase legitimate home business.

This will bring up millions of results you can start to go through. Keep an eye on opportunities that have some longevity to them.

The businesses that are brand new are not always the best ones to start out with because they are not established yet. Better to find a home business that has a proven track record to it.

2. Using social networking today is a smart thing to do. You can go to a discussion forum and ask specific questions about an opportunity. Big-Boards.com has literally thousands of forums you can join.

Popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are other places to ask opinions about an opportunity. These are also great places to find legitimate home business opportunities because your friends can tell you what they are making money with.

LinkedIn is a professional networking group that contains a more business oriented group of people. You can certainly find a good home business there.

3. There are some really great blogs on the Internet today. Find blogs that you can interact with readers and ones that are always adding new blog articles.

Many times if the blog owner is in a specific home business opportunity it is one you should take a look at. Plus you have the benefit of interacting with them both through their blog and by contacting them by email.

4. Search Automator Force is a great piece of software you can download for free. This is an excellent way to search legitimate home businesses in a variety of ways.

You can search via search engines, videos, articles, social directories, and much more all in one location. This makes it a more time efficient way for you to do your research. It only takes a second to download and you will quickly fall in love using it.

5. Join a membership site for home business owners. There are many good ones that even zero in on targeted niches so you can get started making mnoney around a theme that interests you.

The advantage to membership sites is you get to interact with other members as well as receive training on making money with home business opportunities. In some groups you even have access to mentoring from other successful home business owners.

As you can see there is no specific way to find a legitimate home business on the Internet. You are better off to use different avenues to research and come up with the top legitimate opportunity for you.

Home Online Careers: Why Affiliate Marketing is the Best Home Online Careers For Single Parents
Posted by admin in Training Articles on 11 28th, 2009| | No Comments »

Being a single parent isn’t an easy job. Working, taking care of your children, and trying to make ends meet in today’s economy is a daunting task. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could find a way to earn a little extra cash to pay off your some overdue bills or just have a little extra money to spend on yourself or your children? More and more single parents are looking for home online careers that they can work along with their regular job to help make ends meet. Affiliate marketing is one of the best home online careers that single parents can do. Why do is say that? Here are four reasons why being an affiliate marketer is the best choice as a home online careers for single parents.

It is an easy way to earn some extra income. Here is the basics on how affiliate marketing works. Companies have products that they want to promote. Instead of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars of their own money to advertise their product, they offer marketers a percentage of the sale (say 75%), in return for them doing all the advertising and promotion. Once you promote a product and a sale is made through your affiliate link, you are credited with a sale. You will earn 75% of the products sale price. Let’s say the product cost $100, so you would receive $75 for your efforts. Sounds almost to good to be true! Just imagine earning extra money by promoting other peoples products.

Another reason I prefer affiliate marketing as one of the best home online careers is the flexible work hours. You can do this job in conjunction with or addition to your current job. I do a little of both. I spend my lunch and other break periods working on my marketing campaigns. When I get home, I take care of my kids and work on this job at night. I don’t like to go to bed until later anyways, so I can spend 3 – 4 hours working each night. It is this flexible schedule that make being an online marketer a great choice for single parents. You can work as much or as little as you like on your projects.

Now you are wondering, does this cost any money? I would be lying to you if I said it didn’t. But there are ways that you can market other companies products that cost very little or no money at all. The easiest and cheapest way or promoting other companies products is through article marketing. All you have to do is write and article about the product you are promoting and attach your link to it. The other ways to promote products which cost more money, and surely you can do these once you start making consistent money, are pay per click or website development. I would recommend sticking to article marketing along with other free techniques that you can learn because those are the easiest an cheapest.

I also like affiliate marketing as the best home online career for single parents because you have thousands of product options to choose from. There are hundreds of affiliate programs that you can choose from that offer a great variety of products to choose from. This makes for an unlimited potential income stream because there are so many products that you can choose to promote and make money from. I would stick with products that you know and like to promote because those will be the easiest for you.

You can see why affiliate marketing can be one of the best online home careers for single parents looking to make some extra money or turn it into a full time job where you can work your own hours and be your own boss. This is an easy, flexible, low cost, and product filled job that virtually anyone can do.

For Optimum Internet Marketing Keep Your Internet Presence Updated
Posted by admin in Training Articles on 11 27th, 2009| | No Comments »

As you increase your presence on social media platforms, article directories, HubPages, Squidoo, YouTube, etc. you may be sending out mixed signals if your profile on all these different locations isn’t consistent with your website positioning — your brand.

In order to make sure that your internet presence is consistent across all of cyberspace, conduct an internet profile inventory every two months. (So you don’t forget about this activity, schedule it on your calendar.)

Here’s a checklist of some of the most important places that need to be reviewed:

- Twitter (if you’re not on Twitter and you have a business, you should be): Is your 160-character bio up-to-date? Is the one website URL you can include your most current URL? Is your photo the same as the photo you use on other social media platforms?

- Facebook (good idea if you have a business): Is your profile page consistent with any group or fan pages you’ve created on the site? Are all of these personal locations on Facebook consistent with your overall business brand?

- LinkedIn: Is your profile up-to-date? Have you joined groups that are good for your business brand?

- YouTube: Have you posted videos here that you’ve forgotten about? Are they still relevant? If not and they could turn people off from your business brand, consider removing these videos from the site.

- Article directories: You can change the author resource box on your posted articles if you’ve changed the focus of your business. Yes, the articles already being carried on other people’s sites will have the old author resource box. But at least anyone picking up your articles now will have the new author resource box.

- HubPages: Did you create a hubpage months ago and now your business has gone in a different direction? Check to see if your hubpage can be revised to be consistent with your new brand.

- Squidoo: Maybe you created a squidoo lens months ago and it is no longer relevant to what you’re doing. Can you revise it to bring it in line with your new direction?

- Google ID: Are you using your Google info link when you leave comments on other people’s blogs? Is your Google info still accurate or do you need to update it?

- Your own blogs: Is your info up-to-date? Anything new that would be a good idea to add?

- Photo sites: Is your information up-to-date on these sites? Are there photos that perhaps should be removed? Or maybe there are photos that should be added?

- Social bookmarking sites: If you use such sites as delicious.com and stumbleupon.com, make sure your information is consistent with your website’s positioning of your business. Every footprint you leave in cyberspace has to be considered in connection with your internet marketing goals.

- Amazon: If you do book reviews, check your automatic signature to ensure that it works with your current business objectives. If you change your signature, Amazon will automatically change it on all the previous book reviews you’ve done.

- Membership sites, affinity group sites, alumni sites, any other sites where you’ve provided personal and business info in order to login: You never know where in cyberspace you may make a connection with someone. So make sure that you check even the “minor” sites on which you have a profile. You want to ensure that you have a consistent message in all these places.

Does this seem like a lot of work every two months? It may be. Yet almost all of the above provide you with FREE advertising/promotion opportunities. You want to make sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck.

Twitter Tips: How to Find People to Follow
Posted by admin in Training Articles on 11 27th, 2009| | No Comments »

Finding people to follow on Twitter can be undertaken in numerous ways. When you first join Twitter you are prompted with “See if your friends are on Twitter.”

It’s better to skip this step when you first join because you don’t yet have anything in your profile. You really don’t want people to look at your profile while it’s still empty. If you want to use this feature, plan to do it after you’ve gotten your profile optimized.

How to Find People on Twitter by Using the “Find People” Tab

Twitter provides you with four ways to find people to follow through this tab:

- “Find on Twitter” option allows you to search by username or by first and last name.

- “Find on other networks” is the same option offered when you first joined.

- “Invite by email” allows you to send invites to people not yet on Twitter.

- “Suggested users” recommends people for you to follow.

How to Find People on Twitter by Using the Search Field

This option is on the sidebar of your Twitter home page and is a search function in which you can type keywords. If you type in bookmarketing, for example, you will get the most recent tweets mentioning bookmarketing.

You can also use http://search.twitter.com for the same type of search, and there’s an advanced search option.

How to Find People on Twitter by Using Third-Party Applications

There are several third-party applications that allow you to find people to follow. One such application is:

- Tweetbeep.com – functions like Google alerts. You put in keywords you want tracked and you are alerted when tweets mention these keywords. You then click on who sent the tweets and decide if you want to follow that person. (This is my favorite.)

Other Ways to Find People to Follow on Twitter

Another good way is to take part in tweetchats (tweetchat.com) on subjects that interest you. As you take part in the chat, you’ll find people also participating who you want to follow. (Tweetchats take place in real time – sort of like a giant cocktail conversation with everyone speaking at once.)

Then there’s the method of following the people who are being followed by the people you’re interested in. In other words, when you follow someone who interests you, go to that person’s profile page and see who that person is following. Click on those people and see if you want to follow them.

Or if someone you are following retweets something of interest from someone you are not following, click through to that person’s profile and decide if you want to follow him/her.

In conclusion, figuring out who you want to follow on Twitter is somewhat like a treasure hunt. You are always keeping your eye out for the gold of people who you want to follow because their interests mesh with yours.

The beauty of Twitter – when you find people you want to follow, you do not have to ask permission to connect. You just click follow. (And if you change your mind later, you can simply choose unfollow.)

Filling out surveys hardly takes any time and getting paid for it has to be the icing on the cake. In fact, people try and make a lot of money by doing this alone the whole day. It is also possible to simply watch advertisements and click on advertisements and make money online in this manner.

There are many places that you can look for such jobs, but it is important that you don’t end up signing for some kind of a scam. After all, in the pretext of offering you a work from home job, you might end up revealing some private information that might be able to track you down. In the wrong hands, this information can be used to bring you down and possibly do something else heinous. Hence, use caution while looking out for these jobs.

When you want to get the best information on work from home opportunities, there are only a few sites that you should trust. One of these is workathomecareers.com where some of the best work at home jobs is listed.

5 Things to Avoid When Seo Optimizing Your Website
Posted by admin in Training Articles on 11 26th, 2009| | No Comments »

SEO optimizing can be one of the hardest and most rewarding tools in your business arsenal. It helps with marketing, advertising and selling your products or services. Because it is a wide category, there are plenty of places where you can go wrong with it. Here are just five of them.

Under-Using Your Website – Optimizing your website involves every aspect of your site. Most people think that the only important part is the content.SEO Optimizing content is only one piece of the pie. When you concentrate on content and not on leveraging all areas of your site, you are robbing your own pockets.

You will get visitors if your content is on point, but the search engines can rank you even higher if you used keywords in other places. Articles have titles, pages have headlines and pictures have captions. Learn to use them all to your advantage.

Keyword Overload – Search engine bots are smarter than most people give them credit for. Using keywords too much will cause them to just skip over your content and thus give you a lower ranking for those keywords. It seems like you could use as many as you wanted in an article and that would make you more visible but it’s not true.

Search engines recognize when people are cheating by overstuffing their articles with keywords. Content that is well written will stay within the allowable keyword density. And, those keywords will show up naturally throughout the article so it doesn’t sound like it was thrown together just for the keywords.

Keyword Density – You can have too few keywords as well as too many. Some people write their content without even thinking about keywords. You might have a strong article that talks about cutting edge information but without something to help the search engines look upon you favorably; no one will ever read it. Using the word once or twice in an article is not going to cut it.

No Variety – For better optimization, a website doesn’t use just one keyword. If you started with the word “chocolate”, your entire website wouldn’t be based on it. People use a variety of similar words alone or in combination to find what they are looking for with search engines. If you make and sell chocolate fudge, there are better words to use: fudge, Candace’s fudge, how to make fudge, etc. it’s like throwing all your eggs in one basket if you don’t diversify your keywords.

Reciprocal Links – While it is true that backlinks can increase your search engine ranking, all links are not equal. And search engines like organic links better than simply offering reciprocal link sharing. You want others to link to you because they like your product and what your website presents to others. Using quality content on your site, in article directories and on social bookmarking sites can increase your quality inbound links for higher ranking.

Article Writer – Do You Need One?
Posted by admin in Training Articles on 11 25th, 2009| | No Comments »

Content is king. Your web presence needs content that your audience will be interested in, period. People go to websites for the content they provide. They read web comics for amusement, visit consumer advocacy sites to inform themselves, visit political blogs to find causes to champion – in short, people visit websites to find things out. Whether it’s for shopping or simple erudition, a large part of the web process involves reading, and the people doing the reading want to look through something of quality. You have a website, you have a product, and you have the motivation. Now you need to ask yourself – do you have the writer?

Who Needs a Professional Article Writer?

At the basic level, everyone seriously looking to make an impact on web audiences needs a dedicated article writer. Hobby writing for web content is fine for personal projects, but it doesn’t drum up a great deal of interest in the long term. It has been demonstrated again and again, the most successful websites are those that regularly produce the content their audience wants, the more frequently the better. So the need for an article writer should actually be taken as a given. The more pressing question then becomes, “Who should that writer be?”

Who Indeed?

In some cases, the answer is obvious – you. You know your material, you’re able to write confidently, and you’ve got inspiration in buckets. In this case, good, the problem is solved. Go and write that content, and perhaps pass it by a talented associate now and again for review.

However, this obviously isn’t always the case. Some site owners are good promoters and businessmen, but lack the highly developed writing skill necessary to really dig into a piece and make it shine for the audiences even once, much less week after week or day upon day. Or perhaps the owner feels comfortable writing some articles, but wants another point of view in specialized or technical pieces. In this case, the owner needs to acquire a professional writer to provide these services. The trick here lies in recognizing your strengths and limitations, and identifying exactly what the needs of your site are.

The Writer You Need

As with any hiring process, selecting a good writer requires understanding the business in question. Each site has its own unique needs, and should seek to acquire writers who meet those needs. It certainly is true that many people can write effectively on many topics, but the impact will be greatest when the writer is chosen for abilities directly relating to the job at hand.

For example, a site focusing on producing highly technical how-to manuals for home chemistry will demand a very different writer than a site focusing on topical, biting political satire. Each demands a professional who cannot only write well, but understands the topic itself and can write believably. Someone with no experience in politics will quickly be identified in the latter case, and in the former someone who flunked basic chemistry won’t be able to write more than superficial material at their best.

Obviously, the writer also must be good at writing itself – they must be able to construct effective sentences, use proper syntax, and command the language in a manner that keeps readers both interested and informed. Most importantly, they need to be able to write specifically at the level of the typical audience for the site. Masters’ degree level academic writing can be marvelous and compelling in peer reviewed journals, but would be entirely out of place on the aforementioned satirical archive.

How to Find Them

The key to getting the best writer for a website is research. Once you understand your needs as far as the writer goes, it’s time to begin looking for them. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to do so despite the overwhelming anonymity and size of the web.

First, consider your own colleagues and acquaintances. Frequently we have many associates in our field of specialty, and many of them harbor hidden talents. Consult with your co-workers and others that you know, to see if they can meet the needs at hand.

Another source of information on professional writers is the plethora of freelance writing websites. There are dozens of sites employing short-term writers on a variety of projects with skill levels ranging from high school and college level writing to highly technical productions involving text and multimedia elements. Frequently, these sites employ a ratings and review system, allowing you to look into their reputation and perhaps their prior work history.

Additionally, there is always the interview. This need not be a physical sit-down session – it can consist of posting an advertisement seeking a talented writer along with a requirement that they submit writing samples (either previously published pieces or unique work based on the site’s requirements). This will frequently result in a deluge of applicants, so owners are advised to be prepared to so some heavy reading in this case.

For good content on your website, the key is to identify the exact needs of your site, find the exact style and skill of writer you need, and then to strive to meet that need unfailingly. Have an open mind and be willing to adapt to new, good ideas, but stick with the goal and vision for your site and find the best person to fill the position you’ve created.
